Server migrations are essential for maintaining a secure, stable, and high-performing IT environment. This migration is part of a broader infrastructure update, necessitated by the release of a new version of the supporting software that powers the servers running Legalsense environments. Upgrading to the latest technology ensures improved performance, enhanced security, and continued compatibility with evolving industry standards. By proactively updating our infrastructure, we aim to provide a seamless and reliable experience for all users while minimizing potential disruptions in the future.
Below, you'll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about server migrations. If you need further assistance or have any additional questions, please contact our Support department.
When is our server-migration planned exactly?
The migration is planned in the communicated time-window. The exact day of the server move can't be confirmed in advance, as it depends on several factors. However, we want to reassure you that the migration will take place during the night to minimize any disruption, so users shouldn't notice any impact.
How will the server-migration impact our integrations?
Accounting integrations
The server-migration won't affect the AFAS, Exact Online, Fortnox or Twinfield integration.
For Exact Financials the integration should not be affected. However, since Exact Financials is typically an on-premise solution, its functionality may depend on specific firewall rules in place within your IT environment. We recommend verifying firewall configurations to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
Contact Management integrations
The server-migration won't affect the ContactManager integration.
Compliance Management integrations
The server-migration won't affect the Cotembo and Regulatory Lab integration.
Document Management integrations
The server-migration won't affect the DMS4Legal, NetDocuments and direct iManage integration.
For an iManage integration through an iManage Work provider, many providers implement IP whitelisting as a security measure. While we proactively notify commonly used partners about changes to our infrastructure’s IP addresses, some lesser-known providers or specific network setups may require additional attention. To avoid disruptions, we recommend that you reach out to your iManage provider in advance to inform them about the migration and ensure continued operations.
Third-party integrations
For third-party integrations determining whether the integration will be affected depends on the implementation details. In general, we expect integrations to rely on the customer-specific Legalsense URL (e.g., https://customer.legalsense.nl/
) rather than the underlying IP address of the server. If this is the case, integrations should not be impacted by the migration.
We cannot provide a definitive guarantee that all integrations will function without issues. While we do not anticipate disruptions, we recommend verifying with your integration providers to ensure they follow best practices for connecting to Legalsense.
Will the server-migration impact logging in with 2FA?
In some cases, yes. If your 2FA authentication system relies on specific whitelisted IP addresses, these addresses will need to be updated after the migration to ensure seamless access.
A common scenario where this issue might arise is when users connect through a VPN server that only handles traffic for predefined destinations. If the new server’s IP address is not included in that list, authentication requests may not reach the correct endpoint—potentially preventing successful 2FA logins.
To prevent disruptions, we recommend that you update your VPN configuration to allow traffic to the new server's IP address. This should ensure that all authentication requests are properly routed, allowing users to log in with 2FA without issues.
