Budget per client
Currently, Legalsense supports setting a budget on a matter and/or submatter. Since release 25.07, a budget per client is also supported. This allows you to set a budget for a client, which can include multiple matters for that client. To set a budget for a client, a section 'Budget status' is added to the client detail page, similar to matters. A budget can be added with the button 'Add budget', which will give a pop-up to set the budget. Two options you have, which are not available on a (sub)matter budget, are:
- The field 'Matters' allows you to (de)select all matters that should be included in the budget.
- The field 'Add future matters' will enable you to automatically add new matters for that client to the budget. A client can have multiple budgets, and a matter can therefore be included in multiple budgets.
To support budgets for clients within the budget report, we have made a few changes in the budget report:
- The filter 'Include budget on archived matters' is replaced by the filter 'Include archived', with the options 'No archived objects', 'archived matters', 'archived clients', and 'All'. This filter lets you include or exclude archived objects within your reporting results.
- The filter 'Include budgets on submatters' is replaced by the filter 'Budget type' with three boxes to check: 'Client', 'Matter', and 'Submatter'. Based on the boxes you checked, the report shows budgets on the selected objects.

Matters, clients, and contacts
- If you have the Peppol feature enabled in your environment to send invoices through Peppol, you also have the Peppol ID field on a debtor. The Peppol ID field is added to the Excel export of contacts as a column after the column 'Number'. The field will be kept blank if there is no Peppol ID set on the debtor. This column is only available in the export when the feature for the usage of Peppol is enabled.
- In addition to the above, a filter 'Referrer' is added to the 'Advanced search' of the matter list page. This filter will show all matters with the selected referrer.
Disbursements
The disbursements overview page is updated to the modern styling of Legalsense.
Invoices
- When creating a credit invoice, a comment can be left and is stored with the invoice for later lookup. To have a faster and better overview of invoices with a credit comment, we have added a 'text balloon' icon
to the invoice list. The icon is presented after the invoice number and 'credited arrow'.
Clicking the icon will show you the comment. In addition to this, we also added the credit comment to the Excel export of the invoice list as a column after the column 'Credit(ed) invoice'.
- The advance overview has some new filters and some current filters are replaced by these:
- The filter 'Show settled matters' is replaced by 'Show settled' with the options 'Yes' for showing only fully settled matters, 'No' for only showing (partially) unsettled matters, 'All' to shows settled and unsettled matters.
- The filter 'Include advances on draft invoices' is replaced by 'Show draft' with the options 'Yes (exclude finalized)' to only show advances on draft invoices, 'No' to only show advances on finalized invoices, and 'All' to show all advances.
- The filter 'Show unpaid' is added with the options 'Yes' to only show matters with (partially) unpaid advances, 'No' to show only fully paid advances, and 'All' to show all advances.
APIv3
All fields of the 'Payment' endpoint, the 'Invoice' endpoint, and the 'Invoicelines' endpoint are now accessible via the extra_fields parameter.
Other
If you have configured email sending via Legalsense, you might be using our transactional email service previously known as Flowmailer. The supplier has rebranded Flowmailer to Spotler SendPro, and this change is now also reflected in Legalsense.
