Feature to embed PDF inside UBL

UBL invoices can now include an embedded PDF, allowing recipients to view a human-readable version alongside the structured XML data. Embedding a PDF is optional, and you can choose the invoice template accordingly.

Matters, Clients, and Contacts

Applicable VAT: Applicable VAT options that previously mentioned EU/EEA now refer to EU only, as the VAT arrangement only really applies to the EU countries. Please note that this update is purely textual and that VAT names customized for your installation are not automatically updated.

Legal aid point rates: On February 1st, 2026, the Dutch legal aid point rate will increase from €141.41 to €143.04. This change will be applied automatically to legal aid matters in Legalsense. Going forward, the legal aid point rates will be maintained centrally by Legalsense, which means that the legal aid point values don't have to be updated manually and can no longer be accessed through 'Settings' - 'Lists' - 'Legal Aid point values'. The applicable rates per period can be viewed in Table of base rates since 2000. 

Debtors on a matter: Dunning email addresses for a debtor related to a matter can now be edited. This can be done by editing the debtor on the matter detail page. These addresses are intended for use with an API integration.

Reporting

Accounting export download: The process for downloading the export for your accounting software from the Reporting Export page has changed and now runs in the background. The download is still initiated by clicking the download button on the Export page. When clicked, a message will appear stating that your download is being prepared. You will receive a notification from the notification center when the export is ready to download. You can click the bell or badge icon on the top right to navigate to the notification center and download your file there.

Archived referenced matters:  Archived referenced matters no longer restrict create or update operations on the mattercontact and matterdebtor endpoints.

ContactDetailKind: An endpoint for contactdetailkind that supports all CRUD operations is added. 

Chargeable: The following is added to the chargeable endpoint.

• A field and filter is_billed have been made available in the detail view and have been added to the extra_fields in the list view.

• billed_on_invoice and billed_on_invoice_draft are added as nested Invoice objects.

Expense: All fields of the expense endpoint are available as extra_fields. 

Logline: 

• A field is_billed has been made available in the detail view and has been added to the extra_fields in the list view.

• Filters for is_billed and billed_elsewhere are added.

Custom fields: 

• The legacy version of matter custom fields has been made available in the matter endpoint.
