In Legalsense it is possible to create different groups of activities (also called timekeeping codes). Using these groups it is easy to determine per matter which activities may be used for that matter. Within Legalsense, there is always one default group of activities to which all active activities are linked.
Adding an activity group
Adding activity groups is done in 'Settings' - 'Lists' - 'Activity groups'. All active activity groups are displayed.
An activity group can be added using the 'New activity group' button:
You are asked to name the activity group and you can indicate whether the activity group should be added to the matter by default when creating a matter by ticking the checkmark box next to 'Default'.
After adding the name for the activity group and making the choice if this activity group will be the default choice, the required activities can be added to the group. To select multiple activities at once, press and hold the CTRL (Command for Mac) key and then select the desired activities. Adding activities to the group is done by clicking on the "right arrow" icon. After this action, the activity group can be saved.
Editing an activity group
The existing activity groups can also be edited in 'Settings' - 'Lists' - 'Activity groups'. To edit an existing activity group, click on the edit icon:
Here, for example, the name or the selected activities can be changed. The changes made are applied when saving the activity group.
Applying an activity group to a matter
If only one activity group is active in your environment, the possibility to link activity groups to a matter is hidden. You do not need to take any further action when creating a new matter or modifying an existing matter.
If there are several activity groups in your environment, an additional selection field appears when creating and editing a matter. In this selection field, you can add one or more active activity groups to the matter.
The selection field looks like this:
After saving, the activities associated with the selected activity group are available when writing time on the matter.
Choosing an activity group on a matter is mandatory.
