SharePoint folders for your matters
Firms that work in Microsoft 365 get a SharePoint folder for every matter they open, created by Legalsense and named after the matter number and name. No more setting up matter folders by hand: the matter detail page links straight to the folder, under SharePoint.
The SharePoint integration can be enabled for your installation by Legalsense support. An admin user connects the integration under Settings → Integrations → SharePoint and chooses the site and document library the folders go into; connecting requires two sign-in steps, first by your firm's Microsoft 365 administrator, and then by a SharePoint admin to grant Legalsense access to your site.
Folders get renamed when the matter number or name changes. Note that folders are created only for matters opened after the connection, not for existing matters, and documents in Legalsense are not synchronized.
Time
Timers are more reliable, so the time you track is the time you save. A timer keeps counting correctly when its browser tab sits in the background or your computer has been asleep, and a timer you have saved as a time entry stays gone. When your session expires, the Timers page asks you to log in again and then saves your changes, instead of losing them. See also Writing and editing Time.
Matters, clients, and contacts
Time entry can be blocked on a matter while disbursements stay open. The Blocked billables setting on the matter detail page has three options: None, Time entries and All billables. Time entries stops time writing only; All billables also blocks disbursements, subscriptions and trust accounting transactions. The matter list has a Blocked billables filter with the same options. See also Client and matter status.
Account managers can be changed for multiple contacts at once, with the Change account manager action on the contact list. Select the contacts, pick the account manager, and apply it to the whole selection at once, for example when a partner leaves the firm. See also Contact search.
Tags have a color, so you recognize them at a glance. Each tag gets a color automatically; to choose another, edit the tag under Settings → Lists → Tags and pick one in the Color field. See also Tags.
The 2027 Recofa base rate is set: €285.52, for work on Recofa matters from January 1, 2027. See also Insolvency matters in Legalsense.
Invoices
LEDES exports put all fee discounts on one IF line per invoice, as Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker requires. With Export fee discounts as a separate IF line enabled in the LEDES template, the export has one invoice-level IF line per invoice instead of one per discounted fee, and that line also carries any cash rounding on the invoice. This applies to all three LEDES versions: LEDES1998B, LEDES98BI and LEDES98BI V2. See also Invoices in LEDES format.
Reports
The budgets report can be filtered on matter and firm details: Practice group, Practice area, Matter type, Matter supervisor, Billing supervisor, Originator and Firm. Practice group heads and finance staff see the budgets they are responsible for under Reports → Budgets, without exporting to Excel to filter there. See also Budgets.
Integrations
The sync error for an unknown VAT code tells you which entry to fix: it names the entry, date, creditor and full description from your accounting system. The resolution text starts with the fix on the accounting side, so your bookkeeper can resolve the error without waiting for Legalsense support. This applies to Exact Online, AFAS, Exact Financials and Twinfield. See also Managing the integration with accounting software.
Other changes
Excel exports of lists run in the background, for matters, clients, contacts and other lists. You can keep working while a large export runs, and a notification tells you when the file is ready. See also Notifications in Legalsense.
The user list export includes cost rates, in the Cost rate and Variable cost rate columns.
More pages have the updated Legalsense styling: the reports section (reports and report groups, schedules, subscriptions, snapshots, history, dashboards, the performance and WIP overviews, rates, and custom reports), the AML pages, Timers, the two-factor device pages, Move to a similar invoice line and simple document management. On report tables, the first column stays in view while you scroll sideways, and the AML list has quick search, filters, sorting, and bulk downloads as PDF or zip.
Improvements and reliability
Alongside the changes above, release 26.11 includes more than 60 small and technical improvements you may notice, including:
- Firm and practice group dashboards with reporting targets load much faster.
- Credit invoices in UBL consistently carry the debtor and address details of the original invoice.
- Grouped lists, such as the timesheet search results and the debtor overview, show as one table, so columns line up across groups and the page prints cleanly.
- Long timekeeper abbreviations in the timesheet search results are shortened to fit the column; hover over one to see it in full.
- On list pages, More filters and Search sit on their own row, and the extra filters open above it.
For developers and integration partners, see the API changelog release 26.11 (November).
