Client and matter status

Within Legalsense, it is possible to assign a status to a client and a matter.

This allows an additional check to be performed before any work is done based on incorrect data. 

For example, you can set it to allow any user to create a matter or client, but only in draft form. Then the matter or client can be checked by the authorized user(s), who are the only ones who can finalize the matter or client. This way, the correct information, and data are confirmed before any work is done.

Client status

You can manage the client status in 'Settings'-'Lists'-'Client statuses':

The status where 'is default' is entered with the check mark is the status that is linked as default when creating a client. You can specify this yourself when creating or editing the status:

The client status is a field you see when creating and editing a client in case you have the appropriate permits to edit and manage it:

You can find the status under the client information of a client opened by you:

The client status filter has been added as an option under the 'Advanced Search' button:

In addition, the client status is also included as a column in the Excel export of clients.

Matterstatus

You can manage the matter status in 'Settings'-'Lists'-'Matter statuses':

The status where 'is standard' is entered with the check mark is the status that is linked as default when creating a matter. You can specify this yourself when creating or editing a status:

As you can see from the image above, there are two more choices you can make when creating or editing a matter status. These are explained below:

• Billing on hold: when checked, it is impossible to create invoices on this matter as long as it is marked with this status.
• Block time entry: when checked, it is impossible to write time on this matter as long as it is marked with this status.
