Matter, Clients, and Contacts
- Within Legalsense, 'Tags' can be used to categorize objects such as matters, clients, contacts, and invoices. This functionality hasn't been available when your environment is configured with Epona ContactManager as a CRM system. Since release 25.02, however, it is possible to use the tagging functionality even if your environment is configured with ContactManager. NOTE: the ability to use tags depends on the permissions you have as a user.
- When a new matter is created, you have the possibility to send a notification email of the created matter to the billing supervisor of the matter. Now, it has been made possible to send this notification email to the matter supervisor of the matter as well. Please, contact Legalsense support to configure this for you.
- Adding multiple submatters to a matter is made easier with the new button 'Add submatters' on a matter detail page in the submatter section. Using this button will direct you to a new page, giving you the possibility to add multiple submatters at once. The submatters will be added with the name of the submatter kind and can be changed by editing the individual submatter itself on the matter.
Invoices
- Legalsense provides a notification message on draft invoices, notifying you there are billable items found on the matter that match the invoice period. This notification has been changed to show all billable items until the end of the period from the invoice. This means the begin date is removed from the criteria, and the notification can include billable items from before the draft invoice period.
- In case of multiple debtors set on a matter, you get a so-called 'split invoice'. This gives you multiple invoices that are linked to each other. When changing the date of one of the split invoices, Legalsense will also change the date of all the other linked invoices.
- LEDES is a legal e-billing format that Legalsense supports. Within Legalsense you can manage the LEDES templates in your own environment, offering the possibility to customize your LEDES template to the needs of the client. The 'timekeeper_username', retrieving the username of a timekeeper, is added as an available choice for the LEDES field 'TIMEKEEPER_ID'.
- Within Legalsense you can configure invoice texts and/or email templates to simplify your billing process. In these templates you can use certain fieldnames as 'codes' to refer to the value of this field. We've added a new field {{ invoice_date }} that will display the date in the format of the invoice language. For example, in Dutch, we have 01-02-2025; in German, this is displayed as 01.02.2025. The date format can be configured differently for your installation by request. Please contact Legalsense support. - Similarly to the previous point, the 'Title' of a user has been added as a possible field 'code' to use to in invoice texts and/ or email templates. The following four options are available: {{ matter_supervisor_with_title }}, {{ matter_supervisor_initials_with_title }}, {{ billing_supervisor_with_title }}, and {{ billing_supervisor_initials_with_title }}. Using these will display the name of the matter supervisor or billing supervisor with a title in front of the name and either using their first name or their initials. - All fields from the User endpoint are now accessible via the extra_fields parameter. This enhancement allows you to selectively retrieve specific fields in the list view, reducing query complexity and potentially improving performance.
